What Is Gun Milan (Ashtakoot Matching)?
Gun Milan is a compatibility method in Vedic astrology that compares the Moon sign positions of two people across eight categories, known as Kootas. Each Koota carries a fixed maximum weight, and the points earned across all eight add up to a score out of 36. The system was designed to flag potential friction points — temperament, health, progeny, and general harmony — before a marriage is finalized, not to replace a full chart reading.
Gun Milan Score Chart: What Each Range Means
A score of 0 to 17 out of 36 is usually treated with caution and calls for a closer dosha review before proceeding.
